The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (SBSOV) and their charismatic director Gustavo Dudamel have created an international sensation over the last decade. The unique Venezuelan music education scheme El Sistema has nurtured internationally renowned talent and reached over 787,000 young pople from disadvantaged backgrounds across the nation, gaining recognition around the globe too.

November will see the first ever performance in Hong Kong by Gustavo Dudamel together with SBSOV. They will also participate in an extensive series of education and community outreach activities showcasing the power of music and the spirit of El Sistema. The social function of music will be the theme of an accompanying forum involving local and overseas music experts. There will also be a series of documentary screenings on the subject of El Sistema and its students. These activities encouraging the exchange of ideas and experience in music and education are designed to complement the concert series.
